Why should a company outsource Background Screening Services?
Pre-employment screening is a time consuming and detailed task that requires highly specialized knowledge and resources. It is also subject to numerous legal regulations. Many firms have found that it is an inefficient use of their time and resources to attempt to perform a service that a specialist can do efficiently and cost-effectively.

Even firms with fully staffed Human Resources or Security departments have found that outsourcing this service is more efficient and allows them to focus on tasks that can only be performed inside the company. Many HR and Security professionals also prefer that a new employee’s first contact with their department not be a background check. Also, outsourcing this service does not leave a new employee feeling that confidential information about them is being obtained by others in the firm.

Why should I use PBSLLC to conduct my Background Searches?

Although some of the data we provide is publicly available, to gather it yourself would be expensive and time consuming. Moreover, while the information may be publicly available, it is not contained in any one specific location or database. Thus, you would need to spend many hours searching various individual locations to find the information that we have consolidated for you. Thus it is very inconvenient for you yourself to seek these out over multiple counties and in different states. However, PBSLLC has a team of agents and partners to do this for you.

What information do I need to provide in order for PBSLLC to conduct a Criminal Record Search on an individual?

A person’s name and date of birth is required in most counties and states to run a criminal check. If possible, also provide the applicant’s social security number to increase the likelihood of a matching record.

How far back does the data from PBSLLC go?

Most courthouses and criminal data suppliers hold records for at least seven years. PBSLLC does NOT report arrest records further back than the previous seven years.

Will I get a report back if there is no Criminal Record found, and will I be charged for it?

Yes, you will receive confirmation of the area searched, the information we used to do the search, and the fact that no records were found. We are still incurring the costs of the search whether information is found or not and therefore must charge you for the service.

How soon will I receive the results of a Criminal Record Search?

Most results are returned within 24 hours. Depending on the county or state being searched the turnaround time can take up to five business days. PBSLLC will do everything possible to return the results of your search as quickly as possible.

Do I need a signed release form?

Do I need to fax you the release my applicant signed?

Generally speaking no. In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act you must have your applicants express written permission to access any of their information. You must maintain this signed document for review; from time to time we may request copies of the documents for audit purposes.

Why Should I do a Driving Record Check?

If you are going to be entrusting employees with company vehicles or they will be driving a vehicle on behalf of your company you should make sure a Driving Record is checked. A record check will verify if a person has a valid driver’s license and whether or not they have any moving violations on record.

Can I receive my reports by e-mail?

Yes, we can send your search results via email or fax. Email will allow you to receive your results in the fastest time. You can also send in your request via email.

What does a background check cost?

This answer depends on what you want checked. Most searches cost $19.95. There are however court cost associated with some court houses. Some sites charge a flat fee to do a search but they are only checking a database that is sometimes 6 months old. Professional Background Services, Inc. does not use databases in it’s criminal searches. We check the actual court records for any searches performed. You can be assured the data we check is the most up to date. Please contact us for a quote on the search you need performed. PBSLLC also offers volume discounts for our corporate clients.
